"Issue #5 was done the end of summer 1986. I was 14 when I started SKATE CONFUSION sometime in 1985 simply because I was a little skater kid in Stamford CT and did not know anyone. S.C. helped me break the ice and meet lots of kids from surrounding towns in skating and at the basement punk club, The Anthrax. Reading it today makes me say "Who the hell wants to read about what some 14 year old kid does on the weekends?", I almost cringe every time someone brings it up, the later issues of SMORGASBORD bring the same feelings. #5 was the last issue of SKATE CONFUSION, the Crippled Youth interview was done thru the US mail after I got the 7" and saw them at the Anthrax once of twice. The Tony Hawk interview was the same, I used to write to all these pro skaters in care of their sponsors asking for an autograph and would throw in some questions...9 out of 10 times they would write back with the signed picture and some stickers. This is probably what has fueled my excitement for the walk to the mailbox to this day, even though now it is just bills."
